Thursday Giveaway!

I love Thursdays; they feel like Friday because Jeremy has Fridays off. We have the girls tucked in bed, a movie came in the mail yesterday...time to relax. My type of relaxing usually involves multitasking. We plan to watch a movie tonight and I think, "Great now I can sort that stack of papers that have been piling up." I am working on organizing all my magazine pull-outs into my Style File this weekend. I probably won't finish, but that's okay; at least I will get started and share my progress with you.

Oh, and we will be doing another giveaway, this time for the Style File. In honor of Thursday, Jeremy's dessert day, to enter the drawing you must leave us a comment with your favorite dessert. We will do the drawing next Thursday and Jeremy will sample the dessert of the winning comment, so make it yummy!

I like just about any dessert. Mochi my current favorite. It's a great Japanese-style ice cream treat. If you have Trader Joes nearby, I highly suggest it. (Chocolate is my favorite.)

In case you don't have access to mochi, I am also a huge fan of these:

A classic with a twist. :]

MMMM...desert. One of my favorites is sopapilla cake. It's basically crescent rolls, cream cheese, and sugar all mixed up to make a big ol' fattening cake.

I think my favorite dessert is Creme Brulee; however, I've never tried making it at home, I always get it when we eat out.

My favorite treat at home is probably my Nana's special lemon bar recipe (which is weird cuz I don't normally like lemon bars).

My favorite dessert is a really thick flan with plenty of caramel. The best one I ever had was made by a friend from the Philippines...she started with a dozen eggs. That's the only part I know!

My favorite dessert is poppyseed cake. It is my DH's family favorite. When I married my hubby, his mother came over and told me that the way to win her son's heart forever was with this recipe. I am really the only one in the family that makes it and now it has become a staple at our family dinners. Here's the deets:

Mix: 4 eggs
2C sugar
1.5C Wesson Oil
1t vanilla

Mix: 3C flour
1.5t baking soda
1C minot

Add: 1 can Solo poppyseed
1C chopped walnuts

Pour into a greased and floured bundt pan and bake at 350 degrees for 1 - 1.5 hours.

You will love this cake...guaranteed!

Coconut flan!!! It's rich, creamy, melts in your mouth and it tastes delicious!!! It's the traditional caramel custard flan with sweet coconut shavings on top. Simply decadent. Yum!!!

1. warm brownies with chocolate ice cream, reese's peanut butter sauce and lots of whip cream from a can

2. puppy chow (that's what we call it) you know...crispex cereal with peanut butter and chocolate coated in powdered sugar.

yummy...defitely a trend...peanut butter and chocolate.

I love anything lemony, and lemon bars are my all-time favorite! Chilled to perfection and sprinkled with powdered sugar...yum!!! Or a tart lemon tart is wonderful when it gets warm outside!

Well of course I have to say that Lime Tart is my favourite dessert, but this delicious orange cake is running a close second at the moment! I've made it twice this week - shhhhh....

So hard to choose! I have two. The first is "Better than sex cake", a really decadent, chocolate cake with caramel, toffee and sweetened condensed milk topped with whipped cream. The second would have to be hot strawberry shortcake. You make the short cakes biscuit style and top with hot fresh strawberries and homemade whipped cream. Yum!

This may sound boring, but my favorite dessert is a warm chocolate chip cookie :) Ok, so it's not that fancy. You can always throw some ice cream and chocolate syrup on top of one :)
